I Made a Standing/Sitting Desk with a DIY Desktop
Thank you to FlexiSpot for sending out the Pro Plus Standing Desk E7 to rescue my office from this plywood 2x4 desk. It was seriously the EASIEST base to put together. It’s super strong with super smooth raising/lowering action and its price is affordable compared to others on the market.

That's an amazing story! I love it. All the best!
What type of paint do you use, i.e. child safe?
Genius! Great tip for crafting! Thanks
Great story. Thanks for sharing.
I have the exact same press here at home, but i plan to use it once I've fully restored it. Any tips?
Thank for sharing your story!
Drill a 19/64 hole for the dowel toturn more freely
Brillant idea
Do you have a template for this design? I'm not very creative nor artistic. Thanks
But where do you get sawdust if you don’t work with wood?
Podrías compartir el o los moldecitos ?
Amazing video!!! I am thinking of getting into woodworking, can you make more videos on your story !!!
2 years late, but congrats man! I believe I am in the middle of some big shifts myself. I went back to school in my 40s, met my wife, had a child, got a new career which allowed my wife to quit a job she didn't like. Now we're building her a social media presence on healthy cooking/living and she's writing children's books. And I find myself here learning about woodworking and wanting to move that direction for myself. All of it because of exactly what you said about setting the example for your kids on following their dreams!
How'd you find a woman willing to marry you, support you, and live debt free? That's the real success story here....
Is it furpine or blue pine wood?
What a wholesome video, I also work in call center and I’m also thinking about quit my job and become a full time wood worker so this kind of video is what I need to the leap of faith ❤ thank you for sharing this
Great video...Thanks for sharing! Those kids are going to be so much better off being raised by family vs. daycare - there's no price for that one.
Hats off to you!! I'm a stones throw away from retirement and plan on making my hobby woodworking business a full time (HA!) gig. My wife has just recently discovered the joy of working in the shop. She is flipping furniture and I build from scratch. The shop is hers on week days and mine on weekends. works so far.
Nice video, great toy. To help with the tear-out you can drill a pilot hole all the way through and then drill from both sides with the larger drill.
❤
So happy for you. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Thank you so much!
This is so inspiring man
Can you order the prints for the barn ?
Awesome story, and video. Very inspiring! Thanks you for putting it out there. Hope to be doing something similar soon.
yes
New subscriber here! Your story is inspirational. I hope that many who listen, take their own path. You should be proud of yourself and your decisions. I have been traveling a 1.5-hour round trip for 35 years to a job I never liked. You do the math on that one! 😂 Now I'm close to retirement and look forward to getting out in my shop. Who knows, it may be a new chapter. If anyone is reading this, don't be afraid to take a chance at something you love. It's never too late. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, talent, and story.
You gave a very inspiring story that I think a lot of us can relate with - course correcting to get us to our dream. Love the table base design. Can I ask what angle you used on the legs?
Great story and an awesome video. I took that leap last Friday. I am so nervous I can't even think straight. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great story. Good luck to you
Thank you! You too!
Thanks for sharing. This was inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a logical thought process to me. Doing a mock up of the taper, legs and skirt was the right way to go.
I really like the design. Nice table and good idea with the removable top.
Thanks!
I have been woodworking since high school. I worked in the corporate world for more than 40 years. I did the daily commute, 1 hour each way (on a good day) for 22 years. My family situation forced my retirement nearly 6 years ago. Now I have a complete wood shop in my back yard and I work part time enjoying my passion. The best of Devine Guidance to you, I don't believe in luck.
Thank you!
Bravo!
Awesome video! What type of white paint did you use? And what grit sanding block? Thanks!
GREAT video and the story was even better! Absolutely LOVED everything about it! Congrats on making it happen!
Thanks so much!!
WHAT TEXT BOOKS YOU RECOMMEND?
Do they sell a turquoise color?
2:52 “pallet wood” Good video but I almost stopped listening there. I’ve been a woodworker, builder, carpenter since ~1985 so I have experience. I’ve seen so much the last few years on all these pallet wood projects. I found a couple excellent pallets and set out to build a table. Well I decided that was insane. Shortened story with key point: The unseen grit embedded in the wood ruined my $300 glue joint table saw blade before I finished my cuts. The table was ‘fine’ but for the effort and cost in time, damaged blade, and the poor pallet wood -even though from a “good” pallet and with appropriately accurate sizing- did not remotely live up to my skills or expectations. Thankfully this was not just another pallet wood video but rather was a nicely succinct vignette of the progression of his discovery and fulfillment in pursuing his dreams.
That pallet rooftop seating was literally the last thing I did with pallets almost 6 years ago. Just thinking about them gives me ptsd haha.
Awesome video, sir! A coworker told me about this product and I literally have 254 powder post beetles holes to fill… I’m sure nobody but me would have counted them for the sheer curiosity and fun of it…😂😂😂😂 Have a great day, and be blessed!
254?! Better get the big bottle.
How does this fair when filling powder post beetle holes in a surface you plan to stain?
The key is always layering. It will hold up fine once cured, but you will certainly see the filled holes when stained. As stain penetrates the wood and glue differently, it will be noticeable. Could be a neat design feature. @@brandicash7877
Best of luck to you and that was a great inspiring story
Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing your inspiration and outlook. I am on the same journey you took soon
You got this!
I noticed that in the beginning shot you had a small bottle next to your crock pot. Looked like a doTerra bottle. I was curious if you could add oils to scent it. And if you do add doTerra… how much do you use? Thanks for sharing.
You have a very keen eye on all accounts. I will add just enough to give it a hint of orange. That amount will vary based on the amount to finish you make and how sensitive you nose is 🙂
Thanks for making this Matt, I've subscribed but I see your last upload was a few months ago. Hopefully things just got too busy and you haven't gotten around to it yet. You struck me as a natural storyteller and made a beautiful table! How's the woodworking business going now? I'm in the early stages of turning a few degrees, trying to add those up to larger changes. Maybe consider a follow-up video?
Thank you for the kind words. I’ll have more videos in the upcoming year so stay tuned. Thanks for the support and i wish you all the best!
I love this car. I am going to make several to give out as presents.
Hi, looks great! Did you have any issues keeping the end to end joints tight for the shorter pieces in the glue up?
I was lucky. No real issues, just made sure all was snug before the the clamps artfully tightened.
That "cutting board" looks like crap.
That finish on the door makes it look like it was dug out of the trash. Why do people do that? It must have been a woman's idea to do that. Learn to say NO.
universe has funny way of conspiring....hmmm, too bad its always against me.
Sorry to hear about your mom bro. It’s crazy that we all have a story and every persons story would be so interesting if you sat down and told it. Loved hearing yours and I wish you the best of luck.
I appreciate that
but for why?
